Alliances - Filling the Growth Gap

Issues
  • Vaxa initially assisted TechCo to develop a compelling view on how the digital photgraphy industry will evolve over time. Then to identify the most compelling growth opportunities based on the industry evolution.
  • The growth opportunities surface many gaps in TechCo asset portfolio to pursue the opportunities. The answer was to develop an ecosystem of partners.
Approach
  • Through market immersions by holding interviews and group sessions in North Ameria and Europe, engaged customers who are avid picture takers to figure out how they saw their phorgraphy skills.
  • Create an analytical model along eight (8) dimensions to evaluate each company to rank their partnership potential.
  • Create two (2) Visionary Panels to provide input to project tradititional and digital photography will evolve, including to identify established and emerging players.
  • Assessed the company's assets to determine which growth opportunities they should be pursue over what period of time.
Outcome
  • Decide to leverage at least one internally developed core technology and that of one alliance partner.
  • Mapped a alliance ecosystem to how the growth opportunities will unfold over time.
  • Prioritized which company could be a 'good' partner today and those that should be tracked for the future.
Client Results
  • Launched the first product in the US, UK, France, and Germany.
  • Made eight equity investments in emerging companies in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific
  • As a result of Vaxa's work, TechCo inherited a process to continually refresh their growth pipeline.
